How Pattern works
A handful of rules cover the difficulty levels, pattern types, scoring, and the 60 second clock that shape every round.
- Difficulty Levels:
- Level 1 (Beginner): Simple arithmetic sequences with one missing number
- Level 2 (Intermediate): Geometric sequences, Fibonacci, and square patterns
- Level 3 (Advanced): Cube patterns, prime numbers, and alternating patterns
- Level 4 (Expert): Complex multi-operation patterns, triangular numbers, and power sequences
- Pattern Types:
- Arithmetic: Adding or subtracting the same number each time
- Geometric: Multiplying or dividing by the same number each time
- Fibonacci: Each number is the sum of the two previous numbers
- Squares/Cubes: Perfect squares (n²) or cubes (n³)
- Prime Numbers: Sequences of prime numbers
- Alternating: Patterns that alternate between different rules
- Triangular: Triangular numbers (n(n+1)/2)
- Power: Powers of a base number (2ⁿ, 3ⁿ, etc.)
- Scoring: Base 10 points per correct answer, plus streak bonus (up to 20 bonus points), multiplied by difficulty level
- Streaks: Consecutive correct answers increase your streak multiplier
- Time Limit: 60 seconds per game
- Auto-Advance: Difficulty increases automatically after every 5 correct answers
- Hints: Wrong answers reveal helpful hints about the pattern
- Best Score: Your highest score is saved and displayed
